Ethan Kaplan's Visit to the moving image museum

As I made my way to the museum this past week, I did not know what to really expect. I had never really been to a museum for film, nor have I been to any museum for quite a while, haha. I learned a lot about the early beginnings of film, the technology that they used to make early film, as well as the long and complex process that goes into creating a film. After seeing all of this equipment from back in the day, I was not surprised to see how large the cameras were and how burdensome the process looked. I must say that my favorite part of the guided tour was the rotating stop animation display. I thought that is explained the manipulation of light with an animation sequence perfectly. Once we ended the guided tour, I walked around the museum only to find myself at the voice and foley interactive station. The voice over station did a great job of demonstrating to myself how audio can be inserted into film and video after filming. I thought that the foley artist interactive station was also really cool because they showed us how a scene can differ with different sounds inserted into it. After I left I really felt like the purpose of a museum is well displayed and it's definitely a great place for someone to visit that's interested in film. Overall, the Moving Image Museum is certainly a place each Film Maker should visit once before pursuing a career in film.
